Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between repair-station work and work by your mechanics?
A Part 145 repair station returns aircraft to service under the company's certificate, within the ratings and capability list the FAA has accepted for it. A&P and IA mechanics return aircraft to service under their own FAA certificates under Part 43 and Part 91. Both are legal and routine; the paperwork and the signature differ. The page for your aircraft type says which applies.
What is on Islander's repair-station capability list?
Capability List Rev. 8 (29 September 2026): airframe inspections, repairs and alterations on Beechcraft 19/23/24, 35, 36 and Baron 55/58, Piper PA-28, Cessna 208, Cirrus SR20/SR22, Diamond DA20–DA62 and Epic E1000; inspections and minor repair on Lycoming O-320/O-360/O-540 and IO-360-M1A, Continental CD-135/155/170/300 and IO-240, Austro Engine AE300/AE330 (TAE 125) and Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-67A engines; and pitot-static, transponder, ADS-B and ELT certifications on the listed makes, including a range of helicopters. The full list is on this page.
You do not list King Air, Citation or Pilatus on the capability list — do you still work on them?
Anything not covered under our Part 145 capability list — King Air, Citation and Pilatus airframes, for example — is still performed by Islander Aviation, as Part 91 maintenance signed off by our FAA-certificated A&P and IA mechanics. Engine overhauls are coordinated with a specialist engine shop.
Do you overhaul engines?
Not under our certificate — engine overhaul is excluded on every row of the capability list. We remove, inspect and reinstall engines and coordinate the overhaul with a specialist engine shop, then handle the installation, run-up, break-in and logbook entries.
How do I get a quote?
Use the form on this page: tell us the aircraft (make, model, tail number) or the part you need and what you want done. That line becomes the subject of your request so the right person picks it up. Or call 561-288-0807.
